Kilchuimen Primary School
Kilchuimen Primary school was built in 1968. The school occupies an attractive position close to the centre of the village with splendid views of the surrounding hills.
Kilchuimen Primary shares a campus with Kilchuimen Academy.
The primary school occupies a single storey wing of the building, there are two classrooms and a nursery in this building. At present two further classrooms are located in temporary portacabin accommodation. Work will begin in September 2009 on two brand new state-of-the art classrooms which will mean that the two long awaited classrooms will be fully joined on to the school.
The primary school shares the hall with the secondary school, there is a large playfield. An all weather outdoor sports pitch is currently under construction which the primary will be able to access.
School dinners are made on site and lunch
is served in the school canteen.
All classes have access to the internet within their classrooms, and all three classes will have an interactive white board once the new classrooms are built.
The school is well resourced as many new books have been recently purchased. Pupils from Pr 3 have weekly French and Art lessons. The school is an active participant in both the Feis Scottish Traditional Music Programme and the Youth Music Initiative. All pupils have benefited from PE lessons with the secondary specialist and the school has good links with the Active Schools programme.
